This same company raised the metal framework for the building in 1960. The facades had double surfaces: the inside walls were made of concrete while the outside walls were made of marble from Tenayo, Buenavista and Carrara.The sculptors Leonardo Bistolfi and Boni were responsible for the groups of sculptures on the main façade and the high relief sculptures on the side facades. Gianetti Fiorenzo did the keystones, the garlands, the four famous statues of Pegasus located of the corners of the plaza in front of the building are the work of the Spaniard Querol.

  Tiffany Studios of New York produced the crystal curtain. This curtain is made of rigid glass mosaics, which are fireproof. The supporting structure of the curtain is actually a steel frame covered with thin sheets of zinc. In the middle of the structure, there is a bronze loom upon which the one million pieces of iridescent crystal have been mounted. The pieces of crystal form a panoramic view of the Valley of Mexico which its two legendary volcanos. The German firms Vereinigte Machinefabrik and Machinebaugesellschaft installed the stage equipment, which includes a revolving disc and an electric and hydraulic system capable of producing even the most difficult effects.

Boari miscalculated the cost and the time requiered for the construction of the palace. It was necessary to stop work on the construction during the times of the revolution. Work was not begun again until 1919. Work was once again halted when Carranza died. In 1928, a commission headed by Engineer Eduardo Hay, then sub-secretary of the Departament of the Communications and Public Works, took up the project again. It was not until 1932 that work on the construction became more constant. At this time, a new set of plans made by the Mexican architect Federico Mariscal were followed. The inauguration of the Palace of Fine Arts finally took place on September 29, 1934, when the play "La verdad sospechosa" by Juan Ruiz de Alarcón was performed by a company lead by María Teresa Montoya and Alfredo Gómez de la Vega. The physical and moveable set mounted on the revolving disc was the work of the painter named Carlos González. The palace consists of two sections: one part is the theater itself and the other part is a place where there are museums, conference rooms, exhibition halls, offices and a library. The cost of the palace exceeded 30 million pesos. The three levels of the theater seat as many as two thousand spectators.

Presentes en la Convención Internacional sobre los Derechos de las personas con Discapacidad, presentada la iniciativa por Vicente Fox Quesada, Presidente Constitucional de los Estados Unidos Mexicanos en el 2002 ante la Asamblea General de la ONU.

Es el primer tratado internacional sobre personas con discapacidad para pasar del discurso a los derechos exigibles para propiciar un cambio real identificando medios para enfrentar barreras.
